Web Design Speed Check

Network Compliance and Speed Check!

Designers and Developers use Firebug and YSlow to analyze web pages and suggest ways in which to improve their performance based on a set of rules for high performance websites. YSlow is a Firefox add-on integrated with the Firebug web development tool. YSlow grades web page based on one of three predefined ruleset or a user-defined ruleset. It offers suggestions for improving the page's performance, summarizes the page's components, displays statistics about the page, and provides tools for performance analysis. Firebug will tell you about errors including image failures, bad CSS, Javascript and a lot more. With today's ever growing demand for broadband you need to lean and fast.

Regardless of how you feel about the possibility of Google using page speed as a ranking factor, it's probably going to happen, and it's something you're more than likely going to have to deal with. Another new Developer tool to look out for is Google Speed Tracer.
